The ABB Code of Conduct is the foundation of our strong collective and individual commitment to integrity and provides practical guidance to our workforce, suppliers and other business partners in how we expect business to be conducted worldwide.
The Code manifests our ABB values – courage, care, curiosity and collaboration – in concrete integrity practices: empowerment and accountability, respect and governance, awareness and continuous improvement, and transparency.
Above all, the Code requires us to be fair, honest and respectful in our dealings with others, to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and to promptly report suspected violations of the Code. Beyond that, we are committed to safe and healthy work routines, adopting sustainable and environmentally sound business practices, and respecting human rights, so that we can continue to be a global employer of choice.
Integrity is a shared responsibility. We manage risks and we speak up when we have a concern. This is what grants us our license to operate and makes us proud to be ABB.
To grow and be successful, we depend on the trust of our stakeholders, our employees, customers, business partners, shareholders and the communities and societies we serve. The bedrock of that trust is integrity – an uncompromising commitment to adhere to the highest standards of ethical business conduct and professional behavior.
Employees are expected to read and understand the ABB Code of Conduct, and to use the knowledge gained from that in their day-to-day work. This means always keeping in mind that everyone has a personal responsibility to incorporate our ethical standards and values in how we conduct ourselves in the workplace. The Code is available in numerous languages, to ensure that it is accessible to our diverse workforce.
Employees who have questions or concerns, or who think that one of their colleagues may be falling short of what we expect at ABB, are expected to speak up. Failure to adhere to the Code will result in disciplinary action and may lead to termination of employment with ABB.
ABB’s Code of Conduct applies globally to all employees, managers, officers, directors, consultants, self-employed contractors, casual workers, agency workers and volunteers of ABB. It also applies to ABB’s wholly owned affiliates and subsidiaries as well as all employees of any joint venture or other entity in which ABB has majority ownership interest or exercises effective control. We expect our business partners to adhere to ethical standards in line with our Code of Conduct and – for our suppliers – our Supplier Code of Conduct.
Yes. The ABB Supplier Code of Conduct is a fundamental part of our supplier qualification, development and evaluation requirements.
It is imperative to ABB that our suppliers, who we regard as our “extended enterprise,” conduct business respectfully and with a high standard of integrity and transparency, in line with ABB’s purpose and values.
