Under the EU Data Act, ABB will be Manufacturer of connected products or related services and may in some case act as Data Holder.
The EU Data Act defines a Data Holder as the person or entity—such as a manufacturer, service provider, or another relevant party—that has the right, ability, and control to make data generated by the use of a connected product or related service available to others.
In practical terms, the Data Holder is the party that manages and oversees the technical means by which data is collect-ed, stored, and shared from connected devices or services, and plays a central role in facilitating fair and secure data access under the EU Data Act.
