In order to further digitalize our business interactions together with our suppliers, we are now using the Strategic Sourcing Suite (SSS) by SAP Ariba to handle the sourcing, supplier management and contracting process.

Each potential ABB supplier must undergo a two-step verification process, including registration and qualification. Participation in tenders as well as registration and qualification with ABB will be free of charge for all the suppliers.

RFQ (Request for Quotation): Collection of quotes to either award business or shortlist suppliers
RFP (Request for Proposal): RFP combines RFI & RFQ and is used to gather information from suppliers to help initially qualify prospective suppliers and to gather bids on the desired items
eAuction (Electronic Auction): A dynamic online competition between suppliers to provide the best pricing solution for goods or services

The SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing Suite (SSS) is implemented in all locations across ABB. Therefore, all ABB buyers will have a full picture of every supplier’s capabilities, even in countries, where they are not collaborating with ABB yet.

The suppliers can easily manage all business interaction with ABB from their SAP Ariba account, including RFI, RFQ, RFP, eAuctions and contracts. At any time, they can track the status of the ongoing interaction – respond to requests and monitor qualification. All changes to master data, such as adjusting the address or any other contact details, will be updated automatically for all connected customers in the SAP Ariba platform.

This process involves SAP Ariba account creation and ABB registration questionnaire completion. In order to complete the registration, the supplier will receive a system generated invitation letter on behalf of the ABB buyer and will be requested to follow through the process.

1. Receive invitation

To start the registration process, use the registration link provided in the invitation email.

2. Login or create a new account

If you already have an account click on "Log in", otherwise click on "Sign up" and complete the SAP Ariba Registration Form to create a new account.

3. ABB form

Fill out all the mandatory fields in the questionnaire and submit the ABB Registration Form.

4. Registration completed

Congratulations! You are now part of the SAP Ariba Network and able to receive tenders from ABB.

Once the supplier is successfully registered with ABB, they are eligible to be invited for qualification. The ABB contact will send a system generated invitation for qualification to be completed via the supplier’s SAP Ariba account.

After the supplier submits the qualification form back to ABB, we will review it internally and assess, if the supplier will be qualified as ABB supplier.

Supplier qualification process:

1. Receive invitation

To start the qualification process, click on the link in the email invitation.

2. Login

Click on "Log in" to enter you account on SAP Ariba Login page.

3. ABB qualification questionnaire

Fill out all the mandatory fields in the ABB Qualification Questionnaire and submit the form.

4. Review

ABB will review the questionnaire and additional clarification and risk mitigation actions might follow, such as audit or financial review.
