ABB electrification equipment is helping the city meet its sustainability goal to cut CO₂ emissions by half from 1990 to 2030. Our technology is helping the public transport operator, Hamburger HOCHBAHN AG, carrying 230 million riders a year, to implement a wide-reaching fleet electrification program that includes Germany’s first fully electrified bus terminal.
ABB’s turnkey solution includes the installation of transformer, switchgear and 44 heavy vehicle charging stations with 150 kW power each, alongside the planning and implementation of the electric infrastructure and the connection of the depot to the grid. This solution allows 44 buses in the fleet, each with a range of up to 150 km when fully charged, to be simultaneously re-charged in the central bus depot. Each charger can re-charge up to three buses sequentially. For added convenience and space saving, the entire charging equipment is installed on the roof of the bus depot providing an intelligent and cost-effective approach to charging for the city’s growing e-bus fleet.
